We are not partying to escape from life, we are using music to build a life that nobody needs to escape from.” –Steve Knots

This month we bring you the return of PLAY alum *STEVE KNOTS* a multi-instrumentalist who constantly explores new sounds and draws inspiration from global living. His electronic bass music connects dub, house, folk and Love vibes.

Also, this month PLAY happens to be going on at the same time as the Northside Chalk Walk. Scratch Food & Beverage will provide you with sidewalk chalk, you provide the art around the neighborhood. Come out, bomb your tag, and then kick it with the PLAY crew all night long!

As always, your resident deejays CHRIS OWL and WILLIAM PARHAM will be spinning all the best in experimental, chill-out, downtempo, instrumental hip-hop and more!

PLAY is a curated lounge environment designed to let you enjoy great music, food, cocktails, and friends. The volume is a little lower and the jams a little slower at PLAY.

PLAY is the perfect way to relax with your friends after a hard week or a great way to jumpstart your weekend adventure.

PLAY is always no cover!

Come out and PL>Y!

ABOUT OUR SPECIAL GUEST:
Steve Knots is a bassline wizard who is right this very second sculpting hypnotic wobble-waltz beats in the forbidden 3/4 time signature, while making Ableton lessons for you to discover at www.mixitecture.com. In 2016 he launched mixitecture to help Ableton users solve the two basic challenges of electronic music production: how to finish your tracks quickly, and how to make the mix sound as good in the speakers as it sounds inside your head. Steve Knots has been using Ableton since Live4 and teaching private Ableton lessons since 2008. He studied audio engineering and music theory at the Sonic Arts Center in New York City (b.F.A), and has spent more than ten years performing original music in the US and Europe. His technical CV includes work as a DJ, soundman, booking agent and pro audio repair tech, as well as various studio recording projects for film, video and theater. Steve Knots’ creative output in the last year includes a minimal tekno EP on beatport, a full electro-dub album on Reveller Records (Berlin), and a remix on the “Migrant Beats” compilation which is a UK fundraiser for refugees from the war in Syria. He is really excited to bring his experience online and share it with the global community of music producers who love to learn and teach themselves what we all want to know. The university system has not caught up to us yet.
