Darkness is Spreading presents: HELL(O) (T)HERE (aka HELL HERE) - a Halloween experience at Bricolage Theater, October 26, 2019, 9pm - 1am.

Music by HUNY, BasedGrvce, and Deejay Aesthetics (ALL BLACK WOMAN LINEUP) alongside costumed go-go dancers, drag queens, and more to be announced in the coming weeks! Plus: OPEN BAR.

Join us as we celebrate the Halloween season and our second anniversary - there will be cake and candy!

The theme of the evening is the movies of Tim Burton: Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Batman (1989 w/Michael Keaton) & Batman Returns (featuring the best Catwoman since Eartha Kitt), Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and many more to choose from. We love a theme! We will also be utilizing UV/black light so you'll glow, baby, glow.

HELL(O) (T)HERE will be an OPEN BAR event from beginning to end. We will have plenty premium spirits in stock as we did in 2018. The price of a general admission ticket automatically includes open bar. Please drink responsibly (21+ ONLY), take an Uber or Lyft (parking downtown is a challenge) and bring a bit of cash to tip our bartenders and dancers because they'll be keeping you happy all night long.

(If you do not drink and/or are a designated driver, please contact us for ticket details - darknessxspreading@gmail.com.)

If you attended our previous Halloween turn-ups, you already know Darkness is Spreading goes all the way in for Halloween - we consider it our hallmark event of the year. Our 2017 debut party at Ace Hotel was written up by Pittsburgh City Paper's SEEN column the next day and our 2018 event was an open bar, Alice in Wonderland-themed black light extravaganza at 3577 Studios. This year we will top ourselves.

We do have a max capacity, and the price at the door will be more, so assemble your crew and purchase your tickets soon (DISCOUNTED EARLY BIRD TICKETS on sale until October 9).

As a part of our second anniversary celebration, this is the first of TWO EVENTS. We also party on actual Halloween, Oct 31, at The Freaks Come Out: Halloween Lobby Jam!

***The DJs:

HUNY (Sarah Huny Young), HBIC of Darkness is Spreading and a New Yorker in Pittsburgh, is a creative director, music fiend, and entertainment industry vet (VIBE, BET) with a Soul Train Award on her mantle via Soulbounce, an influential music platform which she formerly co-owned. So basically: huny extensively knows a good bop. Her sets are heavy on cunty ballroom beats, rappity rap, house, 90's R&B, and dancehall...but anything with a nasty beat, genre-aside, can get it, too.

BASED GRACE (Grace Hines) is a multi-genre DJ known for effortlessly transitioning from go-to anthems to brand new tracks to deep cuts—whatever it takes to go keep it poppin. Grace's ear for quality music, combined with her unique style and addictive energy, makes her an increasingly established favorite in Pittsburgh and beyond.

DJ AESTHETICS (Tresa Murphy-Green), born and raised in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, is a young, dynamic, multidisciplinary artist. A poet, deejay, and self taught craftswoman, curating sound has allowed her to shape spaces to center black femmes/women/queer folks. She is co-creator and co-resident of Junction, a monthly open-format party at Brillobox that merges sounds, genres, and regions to ignite a fun and energetic dance floor.

***The Movement:

DARKNESS IS SPREADING is an event collective, founded by artist sarah huny young (aka HUNY), that fosters dope music and good vibes from a Black + queer cultural perspective. The name is both an homage to the legendary Rick James skit on Chappelle Show and a mission: to create experiences that center intersectional Black culture and spread the movement throughout Pittsburgh and beyond. DiS currently holds an In the Weeds residency at Ace Hotel Pittsburgh - 4th Monday night of every month.
