The SouthSide Works has partnered with local producers and musicians to bring you a new outdoor social space for the summer. Located across from the American Eagle headquarters, this new space is green, with views of the Monongahela River and plenty of space for pop-up events. The programming, titled Music on the Mon, starts in July and will take place weekly every Friday at 7 p.m. (with some Saturday dates).

Anbessa Orchestra is a 7 piece band based in Brooklyn NY that draws its inspiration from the diverse musical culture of Ethiopia, combining these unique sounds with the more western sounds of Funk, Jazz, R&B and Rock. The band has been a prominent figure on the NY scene and has played alongside legendary Ethiopian keyboardist/composer Hailu Mergia. The band has also been featured on the "Beyond Addis Vol.2" compilation featuring new music inspired by Ethiopia.

​Big Blitz is a Pittsburgh based band that was born from the sounds of dance, rock, and jazz improvisation. They are inspired by the sounds of saxophone and percussion-based bands known to busk in the subway stations of New York City. The band writes and performs their own, original tunes, which contain a spacious, powerful, hip sound. Whether plugged in or acoustic, Big Blitz delivers a high energy performance that funkies with your brain and flows down to your feet. A pioneer of the Pittsburgh DJ and Hip-Hop scene since the late 1980s, James Scoglietti, better known simply as Selecta (the DJ moniker is superfluous as Selecta is Jamaican patois for “DJ”) started his DJ career in 1988 at the ripe age of 15 as a frequent guest on the University of Pittsburgh’s WPTS radio station. He then parlayed his radio experience into residencies at several of Pittsburgh’s most celebrated venues over the years to follow.
