Formed by identical twin brothers singer/guitarist Daniel and guitarist Danny Chavis, and rounded out by drummer Marvin Levi on drums and bassist Joseph Boyle (later David Burris). The Veldt quickly became the “must see attraction” of the quirky art-rock scene in Chapel Hill, NC. The Veldt released their first studio album, Marigolds, on Stardog/Mercury, in 1992. Marigolds was received well enough to earn the band a deal with Polygram Records, Afrodisiac, in 1994. The band shared the stage with the likes of Oasis, The Cocteau Twins, The Pixies, Fishbone, and Corrosion Of Conformity.

In 2002, the band reformed in New York City under the name Apollo Heights, playing experimental rock music inspired by AR Kane and My Bloody Valentine. Their debut album 'White Music For Black People' was produced by Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins and features guest appearances from Mos Def, Lady Kier, David Sitek of TV on the Radio, Mike Ladd, and Guthrie himself on guitar.

The Veldt regained their original name
in 2016, and have since released four EPs, including the newest 'Electric Revolution (Rhythm and Drone)' on Cloud Records in 2022 which features a fiery cover of Curtis Mayfield's 'Check Out Your Mind'.
